Round Rock Frontier Days Sam Bass Shootout

Round Rock, Texas really has an action-packed day every year for the Fourth of July including a parade, fireworks, carnival rides, eating contests, pig races, children’s games, Sam Bass Shootout reenactment, Movies in the Park, and skydivers.The morning starts at 10:00 am with a parade through downtown organized by the Sertoma Club. That is often followed by some activities in the Prete Main Street Plaza. The Frontier Days Celebration starts at 12 noon in the Old Settlers Park. That is followed by fireworks and a family-friendly movie for the children. All these events are free for the entire family, but the carnival rides do require paid tickets. There is also a wide variety of amazing food and local vendor booths. The Round Rock Express also has a special Independence Day baseball game and fireworks show which is usually on the 4th of July, but is dependent upon the team’s schedule.

Round Rock Sertoma July Fourth Parade

The Round Rock Sertoma July Fourth Parade has grown each year into quite a production. In 2015, there were over 2,000 people in the parade with over 20,000 people watching the parade. The parade usually starts at 10:00am on the west side of Mays on Main Street and passes through the downtown and continues to Georgetown Street. Please note that you will want to arrive early find a parking spot and good seats along the route – between 8:45 – 9:30am. Free parking is available on the side streets as well as the city’s parking garage at 111 S Lampasas Street, and the Bagdad parking lot at 304 E Bagdad Ave.

The Frontier Days Celebration

The Frontier Days Celebration is perhaps the biggest and most popular annual event in Round Rock, Texas. It’s really a big day of fun. The celebration continues to grow and evolve each year but typically includes carnival rides, music, dancing, entertainment, free watermelon, pig races, eating contests, local vendor booths, amazing food trucks, the Sertoma Rubber Duck Race, sky divers, fireworks, and a children’s movie in the park.

Please be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and hats because it can be a very hot and sunny day. Parking at this event can be a bit adventurous. Follow the signs and directions given at Old Settlers Park regarding parking. It can take time for the large crowd to leave after the fireworks end. It’s better to wait and watch the movie then try to leave immediately after the fireworks.
