5K for Clay in Round Rock, Texas

5 K for Clay

5K for Clay honors Clay Madsen and the Clay Madsen Recreation Center which strives to be a safe place where children and adults can learn the leadership and sportsmanship qualities that Clay upheld in his life which was ended tragically short by cancer.

The 5 kilometer run/walk has typically been held on a Saturday morning in mid-August on a looped course that starts and finishes at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center using the Greater Lake Creek Trail. There are aid stations on the course that will supply water & sports drinks for participants. The home base aid station provides water, sports drink and refreshments for participants before and after the race.

Awards

Medallions are awarded to the top overall male/female as well as male/female 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age division. The awards presentation will begin approximately 45 minutes after the start of the race. The course will remain open even though the awards presentation has begun.

Kids K for Clay

In 2016, the first Kids K for Clay was introduced.  This is a special activity just for younger kids aged 10 and younger in conjunction with the annual 5K for Clay.  The Kids K for Clay will start after the regular 5K is complete. This is a fun run/walk and will not be timed.  Parents can choose to run/walk alongside their child or release them to the course with our supportive volunteers and cheering sections from Fleet Feet Round Rock!  We will have participant prizes for everyone!  Youth runners/walkers can choose to sign up for only the 1k or 5K. Please pick the appropriate distance you feel is appropriate for your child.
